Save Greg Palast

Tue May 03, 2005 at 08:02:50 AM PDT

I didn't see a diary on this in the past fifty or so (stretching back to last night) and just got the mail this morning, so I figured I'd spread the word for a worthy cause and a worthy guy.

Greg Palast needs your help. Who is Greg Palast?

Perhaps you recall hearing about a book called 'The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.' Or maybe the movie 'Bush Family Fortunes.' Perhaps you've read a bit at the BBC or Guardian about suspicions surrounding the legitimacy of the elections. Or maybe you've heard something about Bush Sr.'s gold mine on Democracy Now!. If any of these ring a bell, you already know Greg Palast's work.

More after the break.

Presidential Debates Set: There will be three (plus one VP)

Tue Sep 21, 2004 at 09:05:24 AM PDT

From the AP:
Negotiators for President Bush and Democrat John Kerry agreed Monday to three 90-minute debates beginning Sept. 30, including one with a town-hall format drawing questions from undecided voters in the audience.

The two campaigns essentially went along with recommendations by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates--except that the topic for the first debate will be foreign policy and homeland security rather than the economy, as the commission had suggested.

The final debate, which the commission had said should be about foreign policy, instead will be about the economy.

I keep hearing all this worrying and fretting over what's going to happen Election Day. Well people, luckily you still live in a democracy and there is still stuff you can do to help keep it that way!

Are Democrats Entitled to Nader Votes?

Mon Jun 14, 2004 at 09:44:50 AM PDT

I read this on the Guardian UK's website and found it interesting enough to share. There are a few parallels between the Labor Party's recent losses in England and the Democrats in the US. A few excerpts can be found below. The whole article can be found here:

Man told FBI of 9-11 Plot A Year Before It Happened

Thu Jun 03, 2004 at 09:35:44 PM PDT

According to MSNBC, a man named Niaz Khan was recruited to be a hijacker for Osama bin Ladin, was flown into the US, then changed his mind and went to the FBI.

'But they hated us anyway'

Sun May 23, 2004 at 11:21:58 PM PDT

I keep hearing this as an excuse from various right-wingers who seem to think that what's happened with Iraq hasn't really affected our standing in the world since all those furriners hated us secretly anyway.
